The link between alcohol/drugs and violence/aggression has been documented in scientific studies and research as a fact. In the U.S., there are annually: A total of 3.2 million arrests for alcohol and other drug related crimes, which account for 1/3 of total arrests in the United States.

It is estimated that 6.6 million children under the age of 18 years live in households with at least one alcoholic parent. These children are at risk for a range of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral problems. Although it is impossible to place a monetary value on the human lives destroyed by drug abuse, the economic loss on society can be evaluated by examining (1) the vast amount of private income transferred to the purchase of alcohol and drugs; and (2) government revenue spent on welfare, disability, drug treatment, court trials, and the incarceration of 3.2 million people resulting from illegal and toxic substance abuse. Unfortunately, this is not the end. People who suffer from alcohol and chemical dependency ordinarily do not stop using after they suffer the consequences described above. As the current rate of relapse is over 88%, the cycle of use will continue; without proper intervention, people suffering from alcohol and chemical dependency will find themselves locked in a labyrinth with very little hope of escape.
